In red, we mainly find Merlot, an early variety that gives fleshy wines, and Cabernet-Sauvignon, a late variety that is reserved for serious, warm and well-drained soils. The resulting wines are often tannic. Cabernet-Franc gives wines that are also full-bodied. There is also Malbec, quite rustic, and Petit-Verdot, an additional grape variety in the Médoc, to provide tannin.

In white, we use Sauvignon, whose wines are lively and aromatic, and Sémillon, the main variety of great sweet wines, and Muscadelle.

Balancing the high acidity of grapes is an art - The Bordeaux region vineyard

The main red grape varieties in the bordeaux region are cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. Among the white grape varieties are sémillon, sauvignon and muscadelle.

It is important to note that not only are some of the wines made in this area popular, but also among the most costly in the world. This ancient vineyard of fine wines produces primarily red wines (80 percent), but not to be overlooked are dry white, soft white, rosé and bordeaux crisp wines. For each wine form, winemaking is distinct.

The most complex of them is the vinification of red bordeaux wines. It is performed in 13 phases. In order to prevent the wine becoming acidic, the grapes should be chosen for these wines only after they have reached maturity.
